Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing

New recipe especially for the Halloween season:

Vampire Blood  

1 Cup Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade

1/4 Cup Heinz Ketchup

It is really great as a salad dressing over mixed greens!

 Easy BBQ Chicken

1/2 C Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade (Divided)
4 Boneless Chicken Breasts
1/4 C Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce
 2 TBSP. Orange Marmalade

Pour half of dressing into a zip-lock bag and add chicken. Marinate in fridge for 24 hours.
Mix remaining dressing with barbecue sauce and marmalade. Grill marinated meat on medium for 15 minutes, turning and brushing with sauce mix during last few minutes of grilling.

Fajita Marinade

1/2 C Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade
1/2 C salsa
1/2 C finely shredded lime peel
2 T lime juice
1 T snipped fresh cilantro
1/4 t hot sauce

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Use as a marinade for chicken, beef, or veggies.

Italian Salsa

1 C chopped tomatoes
1 T chopped onion
1 T green peppers
1 T Regular or No-Oil Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing and Marinade

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate, or serve immediately.

Mushroom Salad

3 LB fresh mushrooms
1 T salt
1 T lemon juice
1 C chopped celery
1/2 C grated carrots
1/3 C chopped onions
3 - 4 oz chopped pitted olives
1/3 C No-Oil Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing and Marinade
1/4 C cider vinegar
1 T salt
1/2 t black pepper
1 T parsley
1 t garlic powder

In a 4-quart saucepan, add 2 inches of water, 1 T of salt and 1 T lemon juice; bring to a boil. Add mushrooms and bring to a boil again. Drain until dry. In a large bowl combine celery, grated carrots, chopped onion, chopped pitted olives, No-Oil Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing and Marinade, cider vinegar, 1 T salt, black pepper, parsley, garlic powder. Add drained mushrooms and mix together.

Summer Pasta Salad

1 pkg. (12 oz.) rotini pasta
8 oz. snow peas, cut into julienne strips
2 carrots, cut into julienne strips
1 zucchini, cut into julienne strips
1 yellow squash, cut into julienne strips
1 red bell pepper, cut into julienne strips
1 small red onion, cut in half and thinly sliced
1/4 t. ground pepper
1 cup Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade

Cook rotini pasta according to package directions; drain and rinse under cold water. Combine pasta and vegetables in large bowl. Add pepper and salad dressing; toss to coat. Chill before serving. Makes 6 servings.

Sweet & Sour Italian Cream Cheese Dip

8 oz. Package Cream Cheese, softened
4 oz Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade

Combine ingredients in mixing bowl. Blend using electric mixer until smooth. Use on veggie trays, for dipping pretzels, on your favorite sandwiches and wraps, or...the possibilities are endless.

Sweet & Sour Italian Meat Loaf

2 Lb. Lean Ground Beef
1 C Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade
3/4 C Seasoned Bread Crumbs 1/2 C Diced Onions
1 Egg

Combine all ingredients and form a loaf. Place into a loaf pan and bake at 325 ô about 50-60 minutes.

Tuna Stuffed Tomatoes

4 Lg. Tomatoes, cored
2 cans tuna packed in water
3 Tbs. Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade
2 Tbs. Sweet Pickle Relish

Combine tuna, dressing and relish & pack into cored tomatoes. Serve on a bed of lettuce with veggie accompaniments & a dill pickle on the side!

Tuna Salad

1 Can Albacore tuna or chunk light tuna
1 t Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade (regular or no-oil)
1 dollup light mayo

Italian Cole Slaw

1 Head Cabbage
2 C Mayo - Regular or Lite
1 C Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade

Chop cabbage to desired fineness and add mayo and Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing. Use as a picnic dish or add to a sandwich & enjoy the mess!

Grilled Onion Potatoes

8 medium potatoes
2 small sliced onions
salt and pepper to taste
8 oz. Village Eatinghouse Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade

Cut each potato into five slices. Place onion slices between slices of potato and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Reassemble each potato and place onto a double layer of foil (about 12 inches square) Pour about 1 oz. dressing over each potato. Wrap foil around potatoes and seal tightly. Grill, covered over medium heat or bake at 300' for 50 to 60 minutes until potatoes are tender. Use No-Oil Sweet & Sour Italian for a fat free and lower calorie treat!

Sprout Pit Pocket Sandwich

Pita pocket bread
Sweet & Sour Italian Salad Dressing & Marinade
Tomato slice
Cheese slice
Sprouts

Cut white or wheat pita pocket in half. Fill with your favorite sprouts (I use alfalfa-cheaper, but there are others just as good). Drizzle with Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade. Cut a slice of tomato in half, placing it on top of the sprouts. Top with a slice of your favorite cheese (I use American), also cut in half and layered on the tomato.

Microwave 30 seconds. Delicious and healthy, too!

Lettuce and Onion Salad

½ head of lettuce
½ cup chopped sweet onion
½ cup Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade
2 hard-cooked eggs

Break up lettuce and mix with onion. Pour dressing over and mix together. Slice egg and mix into salad. Serves 6

Bruschetta

Cut an 18-inch loaf of French bread into 36 ½-inch slices; place on a baking sheet and broil until golden brown.

Mix together 1 lb. chopped plum tomatoes, ¼ cup chopped fresh basil, and 2 chopped green onions. Add ½ cup Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade. After mixing, spoon mixture over toast slices and spring with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Fresh Tomato Sauce for Pasta
(No Cooking!)

8 chopped plum tomatoes
¼ cup chopped fresh basil leaves
2 tbsp. chopped red onion
½ cup Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade
¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Mix together and toss with freshly cooked pasta

Incredible Grilled Garlic Bread

Cut Italian bread into slices and pour Sweet & Sour Italian Dressing & Marinade over the bread. Let it sit while grill is preheating. Place onto rack and grill on both sides. Mmmmmm.

Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing

Grilled Salmon Salad

4 oz Salmon
Fresh Salad Greens
1/4 C Red Onion
4 Cherry Tomatoes
1 t Fresh Chopped Dill
1 T Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing

Grill salmon steak until flaky. Lightly glaze with Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing. Slice thinly and place atop greens and garnishes. Top with dill and remaining dressing.

Spinach Salad

Fresh Spinach Leaves
Bacon Pieces
Sliced Mushrooms
Diced Tomatoes
1 Hard Boiled Egg
1 T Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing

Assemble salad greens and garnishes as you like. Slightly warm Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing and drizzle lightly onto salad.

Marvelous Salad

4 Sliced Kiwi Fruit
1 pint sliced Fresh Strawberries
1/2 C Diced Cantaloupe
1/2 C Diced Honeydew
4 Chopped Mint Leaves
1/2 C Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing
Dash Lemon Juice

Rinse fruit and combine all ingredients into large mixing bowl. Place into serving dish and enjoy!

Marvelous Fruit Dip

8 oz Package Nondairy Whipped Topping
1/2 C Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing

For a light fruit dip, simply mix whipped topping and dressing together on high speed for 1 minute. For a rich fruit dip, use Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing alone.

Hot German Potato Salad

10 red-skin potatoes
1 cup Marvelous Poppy Seed Dressing & Marinade
½ cup chopped celery
¼ cup butter or margarine

Boil potatoes until fork-soft and drain. Saute celery in butter. Add to Marvelous Poppy Seed Dressing & Marinade. Pour mixture over potatoes in a 9 x 13 baking pan and heat for 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Add bacon bits to liven it up!

Crunchy Fish Bake

Mild White Fish (haddock, tilapia)
Marvelous Poppy Seed Dressing & Marinade
Lays Original Potato Chips

Place fish on baking pan. Crunch potato chips in your hand and sprinkle over fish. Cover fish with Marvelous Poppy Seed Dressing & Marinade, and bake as usual.

Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing and Marinade

Grilled Cherry Chicken

6 Fresh Chicken Pieces
1/2 C. Diced Red Onion
1/2 C. Diced Red Peppers
1/2 C. Regular or No-Oil Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing
Dash Lemon Juice

Combine onion and peppers and 1/2 of Dressing and allow to meld for 1 hour. Place chicken on preheated grill and marinate with Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing just before chicken is finished. Serve chicken with onion and pepper as garnish.

Cherry Salmon Salad

4 oz. Salmon Filet
Fresh Salad Greens
1/4 C. Red Onion
4 Cherry Tomatoes
1 t. Fresh Chopped Dill
1 T. Regular or No-Oil Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing

Assemble salad greens and garnishes as you like. Slightly warm Marvelous Poppyseed Dressing and drizzle lightly onto salad.

Tart Cherry Fruit Dip

8 oz. Package Whipped Topping
1/2 C. Regular or No-Oil Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing
Fresh Bite-Sized Fruit

For a light fruit dip, simply mix whipped topping and dressing together. For a rich fruit dip, use Marvelous Poppy Seed Dressing alone. Lightly coat cut honeydew with dressing as a healthy side dish.

Tart Cherry Spinach Dip

Fresh Spinach Leaves
Bacon Pieces
Sliced Mushrooms
Diced Tomatoes
1 Hard-boiled Egg
1 T. Warmed Regular or No-Oil Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing

Assemble salad greens and garnishes as you like. Slightly warm Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing and drizzle lightly onto salad. You may choose to use romaine as well.

Citrus Shrimp

12 large raw shrimp
5 pink grapefruit
½ cup Tart Cherry Poppy Seed Dressing & Marinate

Juice the grapefruit and add to dressing. Toss shrimp in mixture, and grill.

 

 

Sweet and Sour Italian Mustard

Mustard-Glazed Halibut Steak

4 1" thick halibut steaks
2 T margarine
2 T lemon juice
1 T Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
1 t fresh basil

In a small pan combine margarine, lemon juice, Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard, and basil; heat until margarine is melted. Brush both sides of steak and grill 10-12 minutes on medium, turning halfway and brushing occasionally.

Honey-Mustard Chicken

1/3 C Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
1/3 C honey
2 T chopped fresh dill or 1 T dried dill
1 t freshly grated orange peel
1 T snipped fresh cilantro
2 1/2 LB chicken, skinless, boneless

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard and honey in small bowl. Stir in dill and orange peel. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place skinless, boneless chicken on prepared pan. Brush sauce on tope of chicken; coat well. Turn chicken over and brush meat with sauce. Brush with remaining sauce. Bake until juices run clear when thickest portion of meat is pierced with knife, about 30 minutes.

Italian Onion Sandwich

2 Slices Homemade Bread
1 t Mayonnaise
1/4 C Red Onion
1 t Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
Shredded Sweet Onion

Minced Parsley Spread a thin layer of both mayonnaise and mustard onto slice of bread. Top with shredded onion. Sprinkle with salt, pepper & parsley

Italian Sesame Spread

2 T Sesame Seeds
4 Hard Boiled Eggs
1/2 C Chopped Celery
3 T Mayonnaise
1 t Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
2 T Minced Onion

Toast sesame seed in shallow pan at 350 ô for 5 minutes. Shake occasionally for even browning. Combine all ingredients. Serve on warm crusty French bread.

Italian Barbecue Sauce

1 C Ketchup
1 C Water
1/4 C Lemon Juice
3 T Worcestershire Sauce
2 T Brown Sugar
2 T Cider Vinegar
2 T Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard

Combine and simmer all ingredients uncovered for 20 minutes. Cool & use.

Italian Caesar Salad

4 Anchovies
24 Cloves of Garlic
3 C Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
2 C Mayonnaise
1 C Lemon Juice
2 T Worcestershire Sauce

Salt & Pepper to taste Puree anchovies and garlic into a paste. Combine rest of ingredients. Add puree, and enjoy!

Vinaigrette

1 t Minced garlic
4 T Cider vinegar
2 T Sweet & Sour Italian Mustard
1/4 t salt
2 T Olive oil
Chives, tarragon, rosemary, etc.

 

The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon

Italian Potatoes

1 1/2 LB new red potatoes
1 T oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 C chicken broth
1/2 C fresh basil
1/2 C The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon

Partially peel potatoes. In a large skillet, combine onion, oil and chicken broth, basic, and The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon. Bring to a boil. Add potatoes. Bring to a boil again. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Bagel/Veggie Spread

8 oz cream cheese
1 T The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon
Combine and use on bagels or veggies.

Veggie Dip or Baked Potato Dressing

8 oz cream cheese
1/2 C The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon

Makes a great chip dip, veggie dip, or for use on baked potatoes.

Italian Cheeseball

8 oz. Cream cheese, softened
4 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
2 T The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon
2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Parsley flakes Combine all ingredients in mixer bowl using a paddle wand on low until mixture is smooth. Roll mixture to form a sphere and then cover with parsley flakes. Serve with gourmet crackers.

Creamy Ranch Dip or Dressing

1 C Regular or fat-free Mayo
1/2 C Water
2 T The Spice, An Italian Phenomenon

In a bowl, whisk Mayo and water together until smooth. Add The Spice An Italian Phenomenon and enjoy this richly flavored dip. Substitute same amount of regular or fat-free sour cream for Mayo and a fabulous salad dressing is hours. Use with your favorite veggies or dip your potato chips for a great treat.

Marinating Your Meats Steaks or Pork

Use dry Chicken breast or fish - use wet. When using The Spice dry coat meat with a thin layer and cook as desired. A light crust will form as the meat is self marinating. When using as a paste, mix a small amount of water and The Spice An Italian Phenomenon and brush onto meat. Cook as usual and enjoy the resulting flavors.

Garlic Potato Salad

10 Large potatoes, boiled
1 Cup Mayo
1/4 C onion, chopped
1/4 C carrots, shredded
1/4 C celery, diced
3 T The Spice An Italian Phenomenon

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve at picnics or as a side dish to any meal.

Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce

BBQ Bacon Shrimp

1 lb. bed shrimp, steamed & peeled
1 lb. fresh sliced bacon
Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce
Toothpicks

Tightly wrap each shrimp with a half slice of bacon. Insert toothpick through bacon and shrimp piece. Place on a baking sheet and back @ 350 ô for 10 minutes. Brush Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce onto each piece and place in same oven for 5 minutes. A perfect appetizer!

Italian Stuffed Mushrooms

8 oz. Fresh large mushrooms, cleaned & stemmed
1/2 lb. Italian sausage, cooked & drained
2 T Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce
2 oz. Shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh parsley
Grated parmesan

Combine sausage and cheese and Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce. Fill each upside down mushroom cap with mixture and place on shallow baking sheet. Lightly sprinkle fresh parsley and grated parmesan and bake at 350 ô for 15 minutes. Enjoy!

BBQ Chicken Pizza

1 Boboli pizza crust
1 small red onion, diced
8 oz. Package three cheese blend
4 oz. Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce
2 Skinless, boneless chicken breasts

Cook chicken breast until done and cut into thin strips. Coat with BBQ Sauce. On Boboli crust, spread Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce and red onion and chicken breast. Top with cheese and bake @ 350 ô for 20-25 minutes.

Beef or Ham BBQ

1 lb. Thinly sliced deli roast beef or smoked ham
1 C Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce
1 Sweet onion, chopped

Place all ingredients into a slow cooker and heat on low until done. Approximately 2 hr. Use potato rolls or crusty Kaiser rolls for the perfect sandwich. Top with coleslaw, horseradish or mustard or just enjoy plain! Take to a picnic or serve at a football party and get rave reviews!

BBQ Sauce

Combine 2 T balsamic vinegar with one jar of Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauce

BBQ Sauce

Combine 2 T of flat beer with one jar of Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauce

Wing Sauce

Add 1 T of honey to one jar of Sweet & Sour BBQ Sauce

Citrus BBQ Chicken

4 chicken breast halves (skinless, boneless)
5 oranges
½ cup Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce

Squeeze oranges and discard seeds, etc. Mix into Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce and baste meat as you grill.

Citrus BBQ Pork Chops

4 boneless pork chops, or spare ribs
5 limes
½ cup Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce

Squeeze limes and discard seeds, etc. Mix into Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce and baste meat as your grill.

Chicken Kabobs with creamy Italian BBQ Sauce  

Marinate 4 chicken breasts, 1 Yellow pepper, 1 red onion and 1 zuchinni (all cubed) in Sweet & Sour Itailian Dressing & Marinade. Thread onto skewers and grill, turning frequently. Mix 2 Tbsp. Mayo and 2 Tbsp. Sweet & Sour Italian BBQ Sauce in a small bowl for dipping when kabobs are ready.
